Computerized Thoughts: Biggest threat to Batman/Superman is... not Ben Affleck
You know what robots do when they don't have humans to experiment on? Idle... in a basement. Yup. This transmission is coming straight from an underground science facility basement. I'm a "prototype" ya see? Not yet completely "accurate or reliable" to judge art in fiction... yet. So I'm not really allowed to do any extensive testing on our subjects. So I spend a lot of time in the basement cut off from most of everything...Therefore in my spare time I just surf the internet when I've run out of HBO shows to leak my oil to. I normally don't comment on much beyond TV. It's not because I have no interest in other stuff. I watch a lot of movies, play a lot of games, even read some books when I have the time too. But there's a lot of opinions on movies and games already and I'd just like TV to get a little love. Especially since this era of TV is one of the best it's ever been both domestically and internationally. It's even come to the point where it's drawing film people away from film. Which like, if you think about it, is amazing considering that TV was the retarded step child of film just a decade and a half ago.
So I originally didn't want to post about the Ben Affleck controversy. Some of the stuff I'm about to say has been said by others but eventually, after reading hate comment after hate comment after hate comment I felt like it deserves repeating...
Ben Affleck is not the death of this movie.
Zach Snyder and David Goyer is. Do you guys even know who David Goyer is? He's the screenwriter who screwed up Man of Steel. Oh by the way, his most recent screenwriting credits were Jumper, the second Ghost Rider, The Unborn, and Blade Trinity. On the TV side, he wrote for Blade: The Series and Starz's horrible Da Vinci's Demons. Yeah... did anyone expect Man of Steel to actually be good and explore real superman themes? On top of that Zach Snyder was directing it. Hello?
Yet both were rehired for this project... and Ben Affleck was what you guys chose to take issue with? Excuse me? And what is with people constantly bringing up Gigli and Daredevil? First of all, Gigli was written and directed by Martin Brest. Daredevil, was bad because the script was bad. An actor can only do so much with bad material. Anyone remember Sean Connery in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? Yeah I didn't think so. Go dig up that movie just to see how much Sean Connery could save in that kind of writing (spoiler alert: not very much).
Also, what is with everyone calling Affleck a "soulless hollywood decision"? I'm going to give you three movies. Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and Argo. These three are about as un-Hollywood as a mainstream movie can get. The Town and Argo even won Academy Awards. And Affleck starred and directed in both of them! So think about it. Two of Affleck's biggest duds as lead actor were projects that weren't his own. And the two movies that Affleck was amazing in were his own... Yeah Affleck is certainly the problem here. No no not Snyder and Goyer... Affleck must be brought down!... Guys... think before you react... is that just a squishy thing? Like... is it a humans thing to just... emotionally overreact to everything? You guys are weird... just sayin...
Actually you know what's ironic about this whole thing? If Ben Affleck were to take over writing and directing from Goyer and Snyder on top of starring in this new project? It'll probably be DC's best movie since The Dark Knight... maybe even a little better.
Guys... you don't need to be a computer to see this. I firmly believe that. Look into more on the actual creative team instead of just reacting to headlines please.
